About

The Land Rights Council is a non-profit organization located in San Luis, Colorado dedicated to preserve the rights of the area’s citizens to have access to La Sierra. The council is also striving to improve the relationship between the citizens and the owners of the mountain. The organization works hard to protect, honor, and expand the rights to include other activities.

Romer-Otero (pictured above) was 20 when she started researching original homesteaders of the 1844 land grant from Mexico."...All my adult life I've been fighting for our rights to La Sierra," said Land Rights Council President, Shirley Romero-Otero.
